PLAZA PROTOCOL

PLAZA PROTOCOL

Plaza Protocol emerged in 2020 from an abandoned construction site of an underground shopping mall on the outskirts of Ljubljana. Since then, Plaza has been growing by opening new portals/areas in various transitional sites and anthropogenic landscapes, asking, along the way, how contemporary art should change to face and account for the material processes and temporal scales of the shifting environment.

Plaza allies with artists, designers, architects, writers, and other agents to reflect on the ecological and economic forces which shape our planetary scale “shopping ruin”, and to “imagineer” new plots and protocols for a world that comes after it.

Each area is a result of a new alliance/collaboration. Objects are embedded with the changing material conditions, ecologies and imaginations of the location in a mutually responsive relation. Emerging landscapes cultivate material fictions calling for post-exhibition rituals and subjectivities.
